The Louisiana Tech University College of
Engineering and Science invites applications for both
tenure-track positions and a non tenure-track lecturer position
in the Mechanical Engineering Program. Applicants for the tenure
track positions shall have the ability to initiate, build and
sustain an externally funded research program that effectively
leverages the existing research strengths of one of the
College’s multidisciplinary centers of excellence in
micromanufacturing and nanotechnology (with particular interest
in micro and nanofluidics at the Institute for
Micromanufacturing), trenchless technology, grid computing
applications, or biomedical applications. In addition, strong
teaching skills and the ability to supervise masters and
doctoral students are required. Applicants for the non-tenure
track position must demonstrate excellence in teaching at the
university level and have a passion to be a distinguished
lecturer. His/her classes should be characterized by the use of
active learning strategies and the appropriate use of
technology. Academic requirements for either position include a
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and a commitment
to high quality professional service and active participation in
college responsibilities are expected for either track.
Professional engineering registration, relevant industrial
experience, and/or entrepreneurial experience are all
advantages. Applicants having teaching/research interests in any
traditional or emerging area of Mechanical Engineering are
sought, but the primary undergraduate teaching needs of the
program currently lie in the areas of thermal systems analysis
and design, system dynamics, machine component design, and
computational methods.
The Mechanical Engineering program at
Louisiana Tech is ABET-accredited with a current undergraduate
