What is Business Management and Entrepreneurship?

The Business Management and Entrepreneurship major is designed to provide the student with training in general business management and the tools needed to start their own business.

The Business Management and Entrepreneurship curriculum is a four-year program leading to a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree. The Business Management and Entrepreneurship degree program is accredited by AACSB International (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business).

Careers in Business Management and Entrepreneurship

Employment opportunities in business management and entrepreneurship demand skills in areas such as planning, organizing, staffing, directing, motivating, and controlling. Students electing this major often seek management trainee positions with established large and small companies or public organizations, or may start their own business. Many graduates start out in supervisory positions and move up through the executive ranks. Others use the general foundation provided by this degree to pursue advanced degrees in business, law, or other fields. In addition, colleges and universities are in need of professors to teach the many specialties of management that require a terminal degree such as the Doctor of Business Administration (D.B.A.) offered at Louisiana Tech.

High school and pre-preparation

Upon admission to the university, students can apply to the College of Business degree programs. Generally, students who have an overall, attempted GPA of 2.0 or higher are admitted. Examples of high school courses that serve as a good foundation for college-level business courses include: Algebra I, II and III; Applied Math III; Business Computer Applications; Calculus; Comparable Advanced Math; Computer Science; Discrete Math; Pre-Calculus; Probability and Statistics.
