The Louisiana Tech Speech and Hearing Center, administered by the Department of Speech and house in Robinson Hall, serves as the primary clinical training site for the program’s graduate majors in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. The Center’s purposes are to (1) provide appropriate and directly supervised clinical practicum experiences for individuals entering the discipline of human communication sciences and disorders, (2) provide opportunities for research activities to enhance knowledge about human communication processes and disorders, (3) provide direct diagnostic and treatment services for individuals of all ages with speech, language, and hearing disorders, and (4) serve a consultative and collaborative role for exchange of information among persons and organizations concerned with human communication, with special reference to speech, language, and hearing.
The services of the Center are available during the Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters of the academic year; limited services are available during the summer. Referrals for services are accepted from all sources. Diagnostic and treatment services are available to University students, faculty, and staff, and to individuals of all ages from pre-school through adulthood. Speech, language, and/or hearing evaluations are provided at no charge to University students.
Requests for services can be made through the Coordinator of Speech, Language, and Hearing Services in Robinson Hall and/or the office of the Department of Speech. Clinical services are provided by graduate student clinicians under the direct supervision of university faculty who are licensed by the Louisiana Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and who hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology and/or Audiology awarded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
