Admission Requirements

Effective Fall 2011-Summer 2012

In-State Admission Criteria

Applicants for Freshman admission should meet ONE of the following requirements for

admission:

  1. Have an overall 2.60/4.00 grade point average OR
  2. Rank in the upper 25% of the graduation class OR
  3. Have a composite 24 composite ACT or 1090 SAT Critical Reading+Math (CR+M)

All applicants must meet the following:

  1. Have at least a composite ACT score of 15 or a SAT CR+M score of 710.
  2. Require no more than one remedial course. * Students meeting minimum standards except for the need for remedial courses may enroll in the summer. 
  3. Complete the Board of Regents high school curriculum (TOPS).
  4. Have at least a 2.00/4.00 grade point average.

Out-of-State and Home-Schooled Admission Criteria

Applicants for freshman admission should meet ONE of the following requirements for admission:

  1. Have an overall 2.60/4.00 grade point average, have at least 24 composite ACT or 1090   SAT CR+M, and no need for more than one remedial course. OR
  2. Have at least an ACT composite score of 26 or 1170 SAT CR+M and no more than one remedial course. OR
  3. Meet the in-state student requirements above.

All applicants must meet the following:

  1. Have at least a composite ACT score of 15 or a SAT CR+M score of 710.
  2. Have at least a 2.00/4.00 grade point average.

 


All applicants are encouraged to apply.  Louisiana Tech University may admit students not meeting all state requirements.  In such cases, the admission decision will be affected by the student's potential for degree completion and the need to enhance the university's demographically diverse student population.  Some factors to be considered may include age, experience, ethnic background, and creative talent.


 

The following represent the Board of Regents high school core curriculum (TOPS):

 1  Fine Arts Survey (or substitute 2 units of performance courses in dance,
 music and/or theater; or 2 units of visual art; or 2 units of studio art; or 1
 unit of an elective among the other subjects listed in the core curriculum)
 2  Foreign Language (2 units in same language)

  2. Have a composite 23 composite ACT or 1050 SAT Critical Reading+Math (CR+M)

All applicants must meet the following:

  1. Have at least a composite ACT score of 15 or a SAT CR+M score of 710.
  2. Require NO remedial courses. (You do not require remedial courses if your minimum ACT/SAT sub-score is English ≥18/450; Math ≥ 19/460.)
  3. Complete the Louisiana Board of Regents high school core curriculum, 19 units (Core 4 Curriculum).
  4. Have at least a 2.00/4.00 grade point average.

Out-of-State and Home Schooled Admission Criteria

Applicants for freshman admission should meet ONE of the following requirements for admission:

  1. Have a grade point average of 2.50 on at least 17 units of the required HS Core 4 Curriculum, have at least a 23 composite ACT or 1050 SAT CR+M. OR
  2. Have at least an ACT composite score of 26 or 1170 SAT CR+M  OR
  3. Meet the in-state student requirements above.

All applicants must meet the following:

  1. Require NO remedial courses.
  2. Have at least a composite ACT score of 15 or a SAT CR+M score of 710.
  3. Have at least a 2.00/4.00 grade point average.
