Admission Requirements

In-State Admission Criteria

Applicants for Freshman admission should meet ONE of the following requirements for
admission:

  1. Have an overall 2.50/4.00 grade point average OR
  2. Rank in the upper 25% of the graduation class OR
  3. Have a composite 23 composite ACT or 1050 SAT Critical Reading+Math (CR+M)

All applicants must meet the following:

  1. Have at least a composite ACT score of 15 or a SAT CR+M score of 720.
  2. Require no more than one remedial course.
  3. Complete the Board of Regents high school curriculum (TOPS).
  4. Have at least a 2.00/4.00 grade point average.

Out-of-State Admission Criteria

Applicants for freshman admission should meet ONE of the following requirements for admission:

  1. Have an overall 2.50/4.00 grade point average, have at least 23 composite ACT or 1050 SAT CR+M, and no need for more than one remedial course. OR
  2. Have at least an ACT composite score of 26 or 1170 SAT CR+M and no more than one remedial course. OR
  3. Meet the in-state student requirements above.

All applicants must meet the following:

  1. Have at least a composite ACT score of 15 or a SAT CR+M score of 720.
  2. Have at least a 2.00/4.00 grade point average.

Home-School Admission Criteria

Applicants for freshman admission should meet ONE of the following requirements for admission:

  1. Have an overall 2.50/4.00 grade point average and have at least a 23 composite ACT or 1050 SAT CR+M. OR
  2. Have at least an ACT composite score of 26 or 1170 SAT CR+M and no more than one remedial course. OR
  3. Meet the in-state student requirements above.

All applicants must have the following:

  1. Have at least a composite ACT score of 15 or a SAT CR+M score of 720.
  2. Have at least a 2.00/4.00 grade point average.

 


All applicants are encouraged to apply.  Louisiana Tech University may admit students not meeting all state requirements.  In such cases, the admission decision will be affected by the student's potential for degree completion and the need to enhance the university's demographically divers students population.  Some factors to be considered may include age, experience, ethnic background, and creative talent.

 

The following represent the Board of Regents high school core curriculum (TOPS):

 1  Choose: Western Civilization, World Geography, or World History.
 1  Civics and Free Enterprise (1 unit combined) or Civics (1 unit, non public).
 1  Fine Arts Survey (or substitute 2 units of performance courses in dance,
 music and/or theater; or 2 units of visual art; or 2 units of studio art; or 1
 unit of an elective among the other subjects listed in the core curriculum)
 2  Foreign Language (2 units in same language)

 OR substitute an elective related to computers, including:

  • Computer Architecture
  • Computer Science I or II
  • Computer Systems and Networking I or II

  • Digital Graphics and Animation or Web Mastering
  • Multimedia Productions or Independent Study in Technology Applications.
  • Elective from other subjects listed in core curriculum.
