Minor in Environmental Science

Students may obtain a minor in Environmental Science. A minor in Environmental Science will strengthen knowledge for a variety of career interests. For example:

Civil engineers: Civil engineers often design and manage environmentally related projects. A minor in Environmental Science would improve design and management skills by providing a strong background in biology, geology, soils and law.

Political scientists (and pre-law): The background in biology, geology and soils is essential for political science majors interested in environmental regulation and law.

Business majors: Business majors intending to form and manage environmental firms will benefit by receiving a minor in environmental science.

Agricultural Sciences, Biological Sciences, Forestry, and Wildlife: A minor in Environmental Science will help to provide students in field-related disciplines with knowledge necessary to comply with environmental regulations.

The requirements for a minor in Environmental Science include 21 semester hours of course work consisting of:

Physical Geology (GEOL 111)
Introduction to Environmental Science (ENSC 211)
Soil Science (ENSC 310)
Ecology (ENSC 313)
Environmental Microbiology (ENSC 444)
Environmental Law (ENSC 458)

Three additional hours at the 300 level or above of Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Forestry, Geology, or Plant Science.

Additional information about a minor in Environmental Science can be obtained by contacting:
