Brandon "Kirk" Young
Environmental Science Major / Geology Minor

About Me
My name is Brandon Kirk Young, and I will graduate from Louisiana Tech University at the end of summer quarter 2010 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Science and a minor in Geology.  I was born and raised in Texas and entered the Marine Corps after high school.  After traveling to Japan, Guam, and Australia, my journey has led me to Louisiana where I am now able to pursue my goal of a college education.  I moved to Ruston in order to transfer to Tech in the fall of 2008.

Why Environmental Science?
I have observed the Earth's majesty but have also recognized its fragility.  Environmental Science is a discipline with many career paths, all of which will allow me to continue to appreciate the outdoors while enabling me to understand and to address some of the concerns that are facing our planet.  Upon graduation from Louisiana Tech University, I would like to initially concentrate on Environmental Remediation and Restoration.  Perhaps later, I can take a position, such as an interpretive park ranger, to help educate the general public on environmental issues.
