FOR 111-Introduction to Forestry
Winter:
FOR 116-Silvics and Field Dendrology II
Education:
Ph.D.-Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, 2008, Major Forestry; Focus Physiological Ecology
M.S.-Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, 2005, Forestry
B.S.-Pennsylvania State University, 2002-Majoring in Forest Science with a Biology Option
Research Interests:
My interests include the effects of human activity on carbon cycling in managed forest systems. Specifically: 1) understanding how intensive silviculture influences soil biological properties, C retention, and soil respiration, 2) genotypic differences in resource acquisition in response to changes in nutrient availability, and 3) the potential for short-rotation woody biomass production on marginal agricultural land.
