Lloyd P. Blackwell Scholarship, Awards and Recognition Banquet

The Louisiana Tech School of Forestry held its annual Lloyd P. Blackwell Scholarship, Awards, and Recognition Banquet on Wednesday, May 2, 2007. On this special evening, faculty, staff, family, and friends came together to recognize and celebrate the outstanding achievement of our School of Forestry students. The ceremony consisted of a catered dinner at Lincoln Hall in Ruston, a year in review slide show outlining some of the activities that students participated in during the year, presentations of scholarship certificates, and recognition of students in leadership roles in various professional and honor societies in the School of Forestry. This year, 49 students seeking degrees in Forestry, Wildlife Conservation, and Geographic Information Science received over $80,000 in scholarships and awards that will go towards expenses for the next academic year. Student leaders from the Student Chapter of the Society of American Foresters, The Wildlife Society, and Xi Sigma Pi Honors Society were recognized and awarded certificates of appreciation from the School. The generosity of Ruston really shined through during the event this year as many businesses in the Ruston community provided door prizes for the guests. Over thirty door prizes were given out over the course of the evening.
