Values and Beliefs

Nursing education is an ongoing process with identifiable outcomes in the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains.

  1. Nursing education uses professional practice guidelines from the Louisiana State Board of Nursing Standards of Care, NLNAC Core Competencies for AD Nurses and the PEW Commission competencies.
  2. The student is an active participant in the learning process.
  3. Nursing education is best initiated in institutions of higher education.
  4. Committment to lifelond learning is integrated into the practice of nursing..
  5. Nursing practice is directed toward identification of and meeting the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of individuals within their community.
  6. Nursing at the associate degree level is directed towards clients' responses to health needs in acute care and various community settings.
  7. Service, collaboration, and accountability are valued components of the program of learning.
