The minimum hours for this license is 67 hours of flight training. Under ideal conditions, this flight experience can be obtained by the end of the student's second year at Tech. This is the point where most students complete part of their flight training during the summer quarter when flight weather is optimum. The flight experience is accumulated primarily in the Cessna 152 and 172. 15 hours of the commercial course is accomplished in an airplane categorized as a complex airplane -- meaning an airplane with retractable landing gear/flaps, and controllable pitch propeller such as the Cessna RG. A Class II medical certificate is required for flight commercial operations (valid for one year).
