The minimum hours for this certificate is 120 hours. Under ideal conditions, this flight experience can be obtained in two quarters. This is the point where most students complete part of their flight training during the summer quarter when flight weather is optimum for cross country flights. The flight experience is accumulated primarily in the Cessna 172 and 172RG. 10 hours of the commercial course is accomplished in an airplane categorized as a complex airplane -- meaning an airplane with retractable landing gear/flaps, and controllable pitch propeller such as the Cessna 172RG.
