Mission

University Mission Statement

As a selective-admissions comprehensive public university, Louisiana Tech is committed to quality in teaching, research, creative activity, public service, and economic development. Louisiana Tech maintains as its highest priority the education and development of its students in a challenging, yet safe and supportive, community of learners. Louisiana Tech provides a technology-rich, interdisciplinary teaching, learning, and research environment to ensure student and faculty success.

Department Mission Statement

The professional aviation curriculum provides an accredited professional degree program in aviation. The program is intended to set a standard of excellence and to provide graduates with the skills and experience necessary to shape and lead the aviation industry in the 21century.

Department Objectives

  • Prepare students to meet graduation requirements for the baccalaureate degree and with minimum preparation to be able to continue at the masters level.
  • Prepare students for introductory jobs in aviation as pilots with FAA certification through the Commercial pilot certificate with multiengine and instrument ratings.
  • Prepare students for introductory jobs in aviation related fields with industry, government, and the military.
  • Assist in job placement.
  • Prepare students to interact with real world environmental situations.
  • Maintain continued communication with aviation department alumni after graduation.
  • Support aviation fraternities, flight teams and other organizations
