Mission Statement

The mission of the Career Center is to educate and to serve the students and graduates of Louisiana Tech University in the career education, planning, and developmental processes. In support of the mission of the university, the Career Center functions as a vital component in the total educational experience of students, primarily in the development, evaluation, initiation, and implementation of career plans and opportunities. Career Center services and resources provide assistance to students in the cultivation and enhancement of skills to explore career options, master job search techniques and strategies, and research employment opportunities. The Career Center provides effective and efficient service to employers in recruitment programs and activities.

Statement of Policies

The Louisiana Tech University Career Center provides services and resources for students and alumni who are seeking employment, as well as services and resources for employers who are recruiting Tech students and graduates to meet their staffing needs. In the provision of these services and resources, the Career Center does not assume any liability for, nor does it guarantee, any employment opportunities, paid or volunteer, processed by the department or linked to its web site. Responsibility for determining suitable and acceptable employment options lies with the students and alumni.

The departmental web site is linked to other sites which may contain information that may be helpful to students and alumni in career planning and in conducting job search activities. It is important to note that the Career Center is not responsible for the content, resources, services, or privacy practices of such sites, nor does the departmental control endorse, or guarantee the accuracy of the information contained in these linked sites. Likewise, neither the University nor the Career Center is liable, directly or indirectly, for any damages or loss resulting from the use of the content, resources, or services provided through such sites. When students and alumni link to another site, they are also subject to the privacy policies of that site.

The Career Center operates within the framework of all federal and state laws which pertain to the employment process. In addition, it functions within the internal policies of Louisiana Tech University and the Division of Student Affairs. Internal policies and procedures have been developed and are reviewed periodically for updating as necessary.

Students & Alumni

Students who are pursuing a degree from Louisiana Tech University are provided access to all services and resources of the Career Center on a fair and equitable basis. Alumni of Louisiana Tech University may also utilize the services and resources within three years of graduation. Services are provided at no charge.
All student/alumni records are handled with confidentiality and in accordance with the requirements of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.

Career Center personnel operate within the guidelines set forth in the National Association of Colleges and Employers' (NACE) Principles of Professional Conduct for Career Services and Employment Professionals.

Code of Ethics

The Louisiana Tech University Career Center operates within the framework of all federal and state laws which pertain to the employment process. In addition, it functions within the guidelines of the policies of the University and the Division of Student Affairs.
Departmental personnel fulfill all responsibilities with integrity and adhere to the highest standards of professionalism in accordance with the National Association of Colleges and Employers' (NACE) Principles of Professional Conduct, which include the following:

• Provide services and resources to all university students on a fair and equitable basis
• Handle and process student, alumni, and employer records and reports with confidentiality and accuracy
• Provide facilities and services on a fair and equitable basis to any employing organization which affirms that it is an equal opportunity employer, offering employment without regard to any basis prohibited by law
• Maintain an environment conducive to objective presentation of information
• Encourage candidates to display responsible behavior and make informed decisions
