What is Career Day?
Career Day is an semi-annual event sponsored by the Career Center during the fall and spring quarters. It is a gathering of company representatives who are prepared to talk with prospective graduates and alumni concerning career opportunities in their respective organizations.
Who should attend Career Day?
Career Day is open to all students who are pursuing a degree from Louisiana Tech University. Specifically, sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate students and alumni will benefit by attending. A similar event, Teacher Recruitment Day, is held each April for Teacher Education majors.
Why should I attend?
Students should attend Career Day to explore career options and to make contacts that may lead to an interview or a job.
Where is Career Day held? What are the hours for Career Day?
Career Day is held in the Student Center from 9 AM until 2 PM. Some companies may not stay the entire time; therefore, please plan to arrive as early as possible.
What types of companies attend?
- Small and large companies
- Local, regional, and national companies
- State and federal agencies

I wish more companies that I am interested in would attend. How can students make suggestions?
Hundreds of invitations are issued each year to companies and agencies. The decisions to attend, however, are made by the companies. Please provide the names and addresses of companies you would like to invite and the Career Center will be happy to send invitations.
How can I approach companies that are not seeking candidates with my major?
The company representatives may focus on specific majors; however, the companies may also hire other majors. Express an interest and relate your skills to the needs of the organizations. The company representatives can direct your resume to the proper departments or can provide the contact information you need. Some company representatives may not accept resumes at Career Day and will direct you to upload your resume and/or complete an application on their Web sites.
