On-Campus Interviews

Employers are invited to visit the campus to recruit for full-time, summer, co-op, and internship positions. The following suggestions may be helpful:

  • Please call at least three weeks in advance to schedule a recruiting date.  For pre-selection, please allow four to five weeks.
  • Daily interviews normally begin at 9 a.m. and the last interview begins at 4 p.m. Our standard schedule consists of twelve 30-minute interviews.  Variations can be accommodated if desired.
  • Confirmation of your recruiting date will be mailed. A recruitment form requesting details of your visit and a parking permit will be enclosed with your confirmation letter.  Please complete and return the form to the Career Center.  If you need information on Work Authorizations, you may refer to the NACE publication, An Employer's Guide to Student Visas .  If you are not a member of NACE, the Career Center Recruiting Coordinator can assist you with this information.
  • Two scheduling options are available:  Pre-select and Open.  A pre-select schedule provides an opportunity for employers to review resumes from interested candidates and then select the ones to be interviewed.  An open schedule permits qualified students to select an interview time on a first-come basis.
  • Employers are requested to call two days in advance to confirm the status of the interview schedules.
  • Upon arrival, you will receive an interview schedule as well as a resume and an unofficial transcript for each candidate who scheduled an interview.
  • Lunch is scheduled from 12:00-1:30 p.m.  Luncheon meetings with faculty can be arranged if desired.  Please verify arrangements when you arrive.
  • Students will be waiting in the lobby area.  Please call their names when you are ready to interview them.  If any problems arise please check with the Scheduling Coordinator.
  • Vacant interview spaces may be filled with students from your alternate list. You may wish to request that the Recruiting Coordinator assist you in reaching these students for appointments.
  • Please notify us if the student fails to appear for a scheduled interview.  We will contact the student concerning the appropriate action.
  • Official transcript release forms are located in the desk drawer in your interview room.  Turn in completed forms before leaving.  It will take approximately one to two weeks for the Registrar’s Office to forward transcripts.  There is no charge for this service.

We would appreciate a report of offers extended to our graduates as well as acceptances of those offers.  This will enhance the accuracy of our records.  An on-line  Job Offer/Salary Survey Form is provided for your convenience.

Career Days

Each fall and spring the Career Center sponsors Career/Recruitment Days.  Sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate students, and alumni in all majors are invited to participate.  Teacher Recruitment Day is held each April.  Please contact us if you wish to reserve a space for one of these events.

Career Library

The Career Center maintains a library of employer literature for student use, and we encourage the candidates to become familiar with as much information as possible about the company or organization prior to the interview.  We appreciate your providing recruiting brochures, binders, annual reports, product information, posters, and video tapes.

Job Listings

Employers may list job vacancies as needs arise.  This service is especially effective when a campus visit is not possible.  Jobs are listed via a telephone call, FAX, mail, online, or personal visit.  The listing is posted online and in the Job Opportunities Binders.  Copies are also distributed to the appropriate department heads.   If you have any questions, please contact the Career Center at (318) 257-4336 or e-mail us at careercenter@latech.edu .
