For really nice quality printing purposes you're going to need images that are scanned/digital at 200-300 ppi. For example, if you have a 4 x 6 photo and you want it to appear as 4 x 6 on your page you can scan it at 200 ppi yielding a 800 pixel x 1200 pixel image. But, if you have a 2 x 3 photo and you want it to be placed on your page as a 4 x 6 you'll need to scan it at 400 ppi so that it will end up as that same 800 pixel x 1200 pixel image. You can make small adjustments to size, but you have to be careful or things will start to pixelate. Only practice will give you the "eye" to know when you've gone too far. Normal deskjet printers can't really produce results that are visible beyond 150 - 200 ppi. The 200 ppi is really the "standard" declared for digital scrapbooking. |
