Information
Whether you need to perform spatial analysis, manage large amounts of spatial data, or produce cartographically appealing maps to aid in decision making, ArcGIS allows you to use one common platform to meet all your GIS needs.
Introduction to ArcGIS is tailored to users new to ArcGIS software or to GIS in general. Participants will be trained on how, when, and why to make a map. ArcGIS Desktop is ESRI’s full featured GIS software for visualizing, creating, managing, and analyzing geographic data. This course provides the foundation for becoming a successful ArcGIS Desktop user. Dr. Jack Mills, an ESRI Authorized ArcView instructor, will teach this class.
Participants will learn how to:
1. Describe the structure of ArcGIS Desktop software.
2. Display geographic data.
3. Query a GIS database.
4. Edit geographic data.
5. Associate tables using joins and relates.
6. Create maps, report and graphs.
Cost for the 16 hour course is $895. Participants will receive an official ESRI completion certificate, a 60-day trial copy of ArcView software, practical data sets, along with booklets containing GIS concepts and learning exercises. The class is limited to 14 participants. Deadline for registration is July 21, 2008.
