The SHRM® Learning System Course

This professional development course is offered in partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). The course investment includes all course materials (a $694 value) but does not cover registration for the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP examinations.

Participants seeking continuing professional development and a broad overview of the field, and participants preparing to take the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification examinations administered by SHRM.

The program uses the SHRM® Learning System, a system developed by SHRM which includes five modules updated annually with current HR policies and legislation. As a professional development tool, the Learning System can increase a participant's knowledge in the field of human resources and provide current reference to HR practices. As a certification preparation tool, the Learning System has a measurable track record of success for those qualified to sit for exams.

Course Content

The SHRM Learning System course features printed workbooks, over 1600 test questions, and an online resource center. This course covers:

Module 1: Human Resource Competencies

Includes Leadership and Navigation, Ethical Practice, Business Acumen, Relationship Management, Consultation, Critical Evaluation, Global and Cultural Effectiveness, and Communication..

Module 2: People

Covers areas such as Talent Acquisition and Retention, Employee Engagement, Learning and Development, and Total Rewards..

Module 3: Organization

Examines the important topics of the Structure of the Human Resource (HR) Function, Organizational Effectiveness and Development, Workforce Management, Employee Relations, and Technology and Data..

Module 4: Workplace

Includes key topics such as HR in the Global Context, Diversity and Inclusion, Risk Management, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Employment Law and Regulations (U.S. Only).

Module 5: Strategy

Cover key legislation affecting Business and HR Strategy.

Here are the current eligibility requirements for the HR Certification Institute professional credentials:

*Less than a bachelor's degree includes:  associate's degree; some college; high school or GED.

*Anyone registering, paying the fees, and completing the classroom sessions, may within one year, audit the class one additional time if they fail to pass the SHRM CP/SCP exam.  No manuals or materials will be provided.
