Accessing Your Blackboard Course

Current Academic Session

Blackboard is integrated with Louisiana Tech's registration system.  Courses are created automatically in the system each quarter and populated with the assigned faculty and student enrollments.  Each course is created with its status set to unavailable (visible only to the instructor of record), the instructors must make it available before students are able to view the course.

As students register for classes, they are added to the Blackboard roster.  When students drop classes, they can no longer access the courses.  All course sites are made unavailable after the deadline for incomplete grades to be completed.  If instructors want students to continue to have access to a course after the deadline, they should submit a request to the Computing Center to make it available again.

Future Academic Sessions

Courses are populated into Blackboard after the academic schedule has been completed.  Instructors who want to work on their new course site before the courses are populated can request a course shell/template from the Center for Instructional Technoloy or the Computing Center.  After the official courses are populated in the system, the content in the course template can be copied into the official course site.

Past Academic Sessions

Blackboard coursesites will remain on the server for one year and one quarter.  After this time, the courses are archieved off-line and a request to reload the course must be made for access to the course.
