- Click User Login when directed to Blackboard.
- Enter a username and password.
- Click Login.
What is my username and/or password for Blackboard?
In most cases, the username for Blackboard is going to be the first part of your e-mail address, the part before @latech.edu.
The default password is your campus-wide ID, the number that appears on Tech IDs.
Who do I call if I do not know my e-mail address/username or password?
If you do not know your e-mail address, you should contact the Computing Center at 318.257.2893.
If you do not know your CWID/password, you need to go by the Tech Express office. They do not give out CWIDs on the phone.
I know my username and password, but I'm still unable to login.
If your username and/or password do not work, you can contact the CIT at 318.257.2912.
I am the instructor for a course but I cannot see the course listed on Blackboard.
If you do not see a course you are teaching listed in the My Courses module, you can contact the CIT at 318.257.2912 or e-mail citadmin@latech.edu.
When are students loaded into a course for a quarter?
Students are not populated into a course on Blackboard until the day before or the day classes start.
I'm trying to add a person to my Blackboard site, but the system's telling me that no user-matching the search criteria was found. How do I proceed?
1. If you searched by last name to enroll the individual, try searching again by username (the letters and/or numbers that appear before the @ in the student's e-mail address). You can also try searching by e-mail address.
2. If you haven't already done so, make sure that the person hasn't already been added as a course participant. He or she may have been added automatically or by someone else who has access to the Control Panel for the course. Go to the site's Control Panel, click List/Modify Users, and search for the person, either by last name, username, or e-mail address.
3. If you don't see the person listed, and you are certain that this person has a Blackboard username, submit an online help request at helpdesk@latech.edu for further assistance. Include the course and the person's name and username in your request. A Blackboard administrator will follow up with you either the same day or the next working day. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm.
One or more students in my class are reporting that they can't access my course's Blackboard site. What should I do?
1. Check your course's list of users to see if the students reporting the problem are listed there. If they are not listed, you will have to enroll them in the course.
2. If the student was added manually to the site by you or instructional support staff working with your course, ask the student for his or her username. Compare the username and full name of the student with the information of the user enrolled in the course. If the information given to you does not match the information for the user enrolled, the wrong person was enrolled in the course. You should enroll the student with the correct username.
A student has dropped my course. Is he/she automatically deleted from the course?
When a student has officially withdrawn from or dropped a course, it is the responsibility of the instructor to remove the student from the Blackboard Course. If you would like to remove a student, please see the User Management section on the Help for Faculty page.
Will I still have access to my course after a quarter is over?
Yes, you will still have access to your course and all the materials you loaded into the course. After a certain amount of time, the course is made "unavailable," which will appear beside the course title on the "Welcome Page." However, this only means that the course is unavailable to students; they no longer see the course. As the instructor, you will still be able to access the course and all of the materials in the course.
What do I do if I want to use the course site the next time the course is offered?
Blackboard creates a new course site for each iteration of the course. This allows automatic student enrollments to your course. In order to use materials previously developed in the next instance of the course, use the "Course Copy" feature in the Control Panel. (Please see the Course Management section on the Help for Faculty page for instructions.)
