Program Educational Objectives
The Educational Objectives of the Construction Engineering Technology Program at Louisiana Tech University are:
CVTE-E1: To prepare graduates to apply engineering construction principles in the construction process, with a focus on the knowledge and skills needed for the heavy-highway, underground utility, and building structural frame construction segments of the industry.
CVTE-E2: To prepare graduates for successful careers in the construction field by providing them with the appropriate technical background, strong communication skills, a sense of professional, ethical, and societal responsibilities, and tools for life-long learning.
Program Outcomes
Louisiana Tech University construction engineering technology students will demonstrate prior to graduation:
CVTE-O1: An ability to practice in the construction field using up-to-date techniques, skills, and tools as necessary for an engineering technologist.
CVTE-O2: An ability to identify, formulate and solve novel construction engineering technology problems using the appropriate scientific, mathematical, engineering and technological methods.
CVTE-O3: An ability to conduct experiments and to use the results to improve construction processes.
CVTE-O4: An ability to use knowledge, skills, creativity, and critical thinking necessary for professional competence and life-long learning.
CVTE-O5: An ability to function effectively on teams.
CVTE-O6: An ability to communicate effectively.
CVTE-O7: An understanding of contemporary profession, ethical, social, and global issues and responsibilities with a respect for diversity.
CVTE-O8: A commitment to quality, timeliness and continuous improvement.
