I have always been a huge fan of Tech engineering, but it was not until 1997 when I came to Tech myself that I truly realized why. My father graduated from Tech in 1977 with a degree in Agricultural Engineering, so I had always heard about what it was like to be a Tech engineer. This past year I had the opportunity to go into the old Agricultural Engineering building, which is located on the Tech farm. As I walked through the halls I could not help but think about how my father had walked these same halls and had sat and listened to many lectures in the very classroom that I was standing. This spurred me to begin investigating more about the College of Engineering and Science history. What I found was very interesting, and I hope that you find it to be the same.

There is a lot of history and tradition behind the buildings, people, and activities that occur in the college. An article that was written in the June 1940 Tech Engineer talks about the old mechanic arts building being torn down after the building of Bogard Hall, “The memories of a generation of Tech Engineers will be buried, and a verdant stretch of level ground will lie between the fountain and the new auditorium. New memories and achievements will be made in a new building named in the honor of the man who guided the first generation of Tech engineers in to the path of professional integrity and success – Dean Frank Bogard.” I hope that all of this history will spur you into taking an active role to be a great Tech Engineer. A student who is a part of the new memories and achievements that make up the history of the College of Engineering and Science.
