Directed Electives for Fall Quarter
The following directed electives are available to mechanical engineering students for the fall quarter:
MEEN 497 - Finite Element Methods for Engineers - Dr. Hall
MEEN 449 - Introduction to Computational Fluid Dynamics (This will be a course taught by videoconference from LSU. Since it will taught on a semester basis, it will continue on into the winter quarter. Students enrolled in the course will receive an Incomplete grade for the fall quarter, which will be updated once the course is finished. See Dr. Corley or Dr. Hegab for more information.)
MSE 401 - Microsystems Principles - Dr. Wilson
ENTR 460 - Innovative Venture Research - Dr. Pratt (signature required)
Be sure to discuss your choice of directed electives with your advisor. One of your directed electives must be in Mechanical Engineering.
Mock Fundamentals of Engineering Exam Assessment Activity
Students enrolled in MEEN 351 for the fall quarter are reminded that they will participate in a mandatory two-hour on-line exam that is modeled after the Fundamentals of Engineering (F.E.) Exam that is required as the first step toward professional licensure.
New Mechanical Engineering Faculty Member
We will be welcoming a new Mechanical Engineering faculty member in the fall–Dr. Heath Tims. Dr. Tims recently received his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin and is an expert in mechatronics and active suspension systems for vehicles. He will be teaching one section of MEEN 351-Computer-Aided Modeling and one section of MEEN 480-Capstone Design Project I.
