ASME Auxiliary Scholarship Winner
Tyler Neale, a Mechanical Engineering senior, has been awarded a 2007-2008 Sylvia W. Farny Scholarship by the ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) Auxiliary. Students from across the nation applied for this $2000 scholarship award, which was based on academic performance, character, need, and ASME participation. |

IIE Scholar
Courtney Colburn, an Industrial Engineering senior, was awarded a 2007-2008 IIE Council of Fellows Undergraduate Scholarship in the amount of $2,000. This is a great honor, as only 17 scholarships were awarded nationally. The scholarships were based on scholastic ability, character, leadership, potential service to the industrial engineering profession, and need for financial assistance. |

2007 Engineering Freshman Design Competition Winners
The challenge of the quarter was to design and fabricate a boat using the parts of a remote control car. The boat had to carry a can of dog food across the natatorium pool. John Mitchell and Clint Robichaux (from Dr. Swanbom’s class) built the fastest boat, which completed the course in 36 seconds. |

Tau Beta Pi Scholars
Three seniors have been awarded Tau Beta Pi scholarships: Scott Jewett (Biomedical Engineering), Chester Materne (Mechanical Engineering), and Tyler Neale (Mechanical Engineering). Tau Beta Pi is the national engineering honor society and awarded 135 scholarships to engineering students across the nation. Each scholarship is worth $2,000 and is awarded on the competitive criteria of high scholarship, campus leadership and service, and promise of future contributions to the engineering profession. |

Who's Who
Nine COES students have been named to LA Tech's 2007 Who's Who Among Students. These students have contributed so much during their time here; they have managed to excel in their studies while being involved in so many other areas on campus. This is a huge honor, and we appreciate their representing our College so well!
