Integrated Curriculum Tutorials Tutorials For Engineering Freshmen The following multimedia tutorials are the first of a large set that will be developed to supplement the Integrated Engineering Curriculum at Louisiana Tech University. These tutorials incorporate both audio and video and require a high-speed Internet connection to play satisfactorily. You may wish to purchase these tutorials on CD-ROM from the Louisiana Tech Bookstore if you do not have a high-speed Internet connection. NOTE: These tutorials REQUIRE Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 or higher. How to Write a Laboratory Report This tutorial presents the major sections of a formal laboratory report and describes the contents of each section. Many tips for making your reports excel in format and content are presented. Click here to download the laboratory report template in Microsoft Word format. Click here to download a complete sample report. Introduction to Microsoft Excel This tutorial introduces novice Excel users to elementary and intermediate capabilities of this spreadsheet program. This tutorial was developed by a student who had completed the COES Integrated Freshman Engineering program and designed it to cover all of the topics needed in ENGR 120, 121 and 122. How to Create Graphs in Microsoft Excel This tutorial demonstrates how to create well-formatted engineering graphs in Microsoft Excel. Topics covered include creating the graph data, inserting the graph in a Microsoft Word document, formatting the axes and data series, and adding a trend line. The example used is a graph that appears in the sample laboratory report that is included on the CD-ROM of the preceding tutorial. How to Use the Microsoft Equation Editor While Mathcad is a great equation solving tool, cutting and pasting Mathcad equations into Microsoft Word documents does not produce results that are acceptable for formal written documents. This tutorial shows you how to use the Microsoft Office Equation Editor tool to create typographically perfect equations and mathematical expressions in your Microsoft Word documents. Mathcad for New Users This tutorial offers a comprehensive introduction to Mathcad for new users. Topics covered include the difference between Math and Text modes, how the cursor works in Math mode, the various types of equals signs, how Mathcad "reads" expressions on the screen, variable storage conventions, working with subscripts, and other topics that are confusing for new users. The tutorial includes the development of a complete Mathcad application. How to Install C++ Compiler and VIDE This tutorial is primarily for students in MEEN 292, but it presents useful information for anybody who would like to do C++ programming in a simple-to-use but powerful integrated development environment.
