Admission
Applications to the Educational Leadership doctoral program must be initiated with the Louisiana Tech Graduate School via the online application process at https://app.applyyourself.com/?id=latech-g and include required personal information as well as all college transcripts and official GRE scores. More specifically, the following criteria apply for admission to the Ed.D. program:
- An appropriate application with supporting documentation must be submitted within the University timeline for applications;
- Applicants must hold a master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education;
- Applicants applying for the Educational Leadership concentration must also hold a valid state-issued teaching certificate; (A teaching certificate is not required for admission to either the Higher Education Administration concentration or the Organizational Leadership concentration.)
- Applicants must have a minimum undergraduate grade point average (UGPA) of 2.25 on all university course work attempted or a minimum 2.50 on the last 60 hours of coursework and must also have a minimum cumulative graduate grade point average (GGPA) of 3.25;
- Applicants must submit official Graduate Record Examination (GRE General or GRE revised General) scores before or at the time of application.
- For Summer 2012 admission, applicants must meet minimum GPA requirements established by the Graduate School and the following GRE General requirements:
- Verbal (V) + Quantitative (Q) = 1000 or more; or
- Any two (2) of Verbal (V) + Quantitative (Q) + Analytical (A) = 1000 or more; or
- Verbal (V) + Quantitative (Q) + Analytical (A) = 1500 or more
- Verbal (V) + Quantitative (Q) x GGPA = 3250 or more
- For Fall 2012 admission and thereafter, applicants must meet minimum GPA requirements established by the Graduate School and the following GRE Revised General requirements: combined GRE Verbal and GRE Quantitative > 287 and neither Q nor V score may be less that 142. GRE General Scores (attained prior to August 2011) will be converted to the equivalent GRE revised General Scores using the ETS concordance table.
- For Summer 2012 admission, applicants must meet minimum GPA requirements established by the Graduate School and the following GRE General requirements:
- In addition to providing the Program Director with copies of complete post-secondary transcripts, official GRE scores, the applicant must provide a sample of scholarly writing, a resume’ of his or her training and experiences, and three letters of recommendation from appropriate individuals able to attest to the applicant’s potential to pursue doctoral studies.
- If the number of applications to the Ed.D. program warrants it, admission may have to be competitive beyond the minimum requirements.
