Electives

In addition to the specifically prescribed cognate courses, students must complete between six and nine hours of elective coursework, depending on the specific cognate chosen. Generally speaking, electives can be chosen from any KINE 500 or above course and from approved, related courses in the fields of Food and Nutrition, Life Science, Business/Marketing, Statistics,, Chemistry, Statistical Methods, and Research. However, as some cognates may specify elective choices, students should consult their plan of study and confer with their advisor when selecting electives.

Comprehensive Exam

The Comprehensive Exam (KINE 585) serves as the capstone of the Kinesiology M.S. program. All students must take and pass their Comprehensive Exam prior to graduation during the last quarter of their program. For more information on Comprehensive Exams, please contact your advisor or the Office of Graduate Studies.

Plans of Study

All graduate-level students in the College of Education are required to maintain and adhere to a plan of study. Your official plan of study must be on-file with the Office of Graduate Studies, and must be adhered to. Any deviation from the plan of study must have the prior, written approval of your major advisor, the Chair of the Department of Kinesiology, the Associate Dean of Graduate Studies, and the Dean of the College of Education. Any courses taken without all necessary prior approval may not count towards graduation.

Recent plans of study can be downloaded by the following links, or from the Office of Graduate Studies website.

Please be aware that plans of study posted online are the most recent revisions, and only apply to persons starting a new plan of study. Your official plan of study may vary, and should be consulted.
