Graduate Programs

Health and Exercise Sciences Master of Science Degree

The Department of Health and Exercise Sciences offers graduate study leading to the Master of Science degree in Health and Exercise Science.  Three emphasis are offered:

  • Adapted Physical Education

  • Exercise Science

  • Physical Education Teacher Preparation

Thirty six academic hours are required in each of the emphasis areas.

Admission

Applicants must hold a degree from an accredited college or university.  Candidates must be admitted to the Graduate School of Louisiana Tech University.  A student entering the master's program must also submit to the Graduate School a satisfactory score on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE - General).

Assistantships

Graduate assistantships for the academic year are $4,500.00.  Out of state tuition is waived.  Graduate assistants may earn a maximum of 9 semester hours each quarter and may complete their degree in four quarters (including summer).  The responsibilities of graduate assistants vary according to the needs of the Health and Exercise Sciences department.  Those who receive appointments may teach activity classes, work in the Applied Physiology Laboratory, assist with FIT, programs for individuals with disabilities, senior adult fitness, or serve in research/service capacities.  Graduate assistants are also required to maintain office hours.
