Alex Laney Endowment
  • The scholarship recipient (s) should be registered and remain registered as a student for the quarter he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University.
  • The recipient (s) shall be a student enrolled in graduate level Education curriculum.
  • The scholarship recipient (s) shall have a minimum of three (3) years teaching experience in the Social Studies or English areas.
  • The scholarship will be awarded annually during the academic year of September 1 through August 31.
  • Individual scholarship awards shall not exceed $750 per academic year.
  • The scholarship shall be award only once per person.
  • The student must maintain an overall 3.0 GPA as an average on all official college masters’ course work.
Ann Marilyn Melton Memorial Endowed Scholarship
  • The scholarship recipient (s) must be registered and remain registered as a full time student for the quarter he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University.
  • Scholarship (s) will be awarded annually with disbursement quarterly.
  • The scholarship recipient must be majoring in education and following the curriculum toward grades 4 – 8 certification or grades 6 – 12 certification. In addition, the recipient must show great promise for the teaching profession.
  • Preference shall be given to a student who intends to teach or will student teach in grades 6 through 8.
  • The scholarship shall be given to a junior or senior level student
  • The scholarship recipient must maintain at least a minimum 3.0 GPA in all official college courses.
  • The scholarship shall be intended to assist the recipient in paying any college education costs which would otherwise be paid to Louisiana Tech by the student.
Bessie Purdy Scholarship
  • Must be an admitted freshmen with an Education (including Ag Education) or Human Ecology major.
  • Awards made by departments after March 1, depending on funds available.
Betty Edwards Owens Endowed Scholarship
  • The scholarship recipient (s) must be registered and remain registered as a full time student for the quarter he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University.
  • Scholarship (s) will be awarded annually with disbursement quarterly.
  • The scholarship recipient must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA in all official college courses.
  • The scholarship shall be intended to assist the recipient in paying any college education costs which would otherwise be paid to Louisiana Tech by the student.
Causey-Tanner Scholarship
  • enrolled in the College of Education
  • a commitment to the teaching profession
  • a need for financial assistance
  • selected in the Spring preceding the effective date
  • satisfy the admission requirements of the College of Education
  • one to four year award

  • strong academic record
  • participation in a variety of high school activities
Erma Flesher Memorial Scholarship
  • enrolled in the Social Studies Education curriculum
  • hold junior standing
  • possess a strong academic record
Elizabeth Morris Odom Endowed Scholarship
  • The Scholarship recipient (s) must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University.
  • Scholarship (s) shall be awarded to an incoming freshman majoring in elementary education or secondary education
  • First preference in awarding the scholarship(s) shall be given to a student from Bastrop High School. Second preference, if there are no qualifying candidates from Bastrop High School, shall be given to a student from Morehouse Parish.
  • The scholarship recipient must have a minimum 3.0 GPA in all official high school courses and must maintain a college GPA of 3.0 to continue receiving the scholarship.
  • The scholarship shall be intended to assist the recipient (s) in paying any college education costs that would otherwise be paid to Louisiana Tech University by the student.
  • The scholarship recipient shall be chosen by the Office of Admissions.
Emmons, Morelle and Trissielee Endowed Scholarship
  • The scholarship recipient (s) must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student majoring in Education for the quarter he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University.
  • Scholarship (s) will be awarded annually, with disbursement quarterly.
  • The scholarship recipient must maintain at least a minimum 3.0 GPA in all official college courses.
  • The scholarship shall be intended to assist the recipient (s) in paying any college education costs that would otherwise be paid to Louisiana Tech University by the student.
Estelle Harris Memorial Scholarship
  • Elementary Education major
  • earned GPA of 3.0 on all college work completed
  • ACT score of 23 or higher
  • Awarded annually. May be repeated to the same student
Evelyn Swihart Endowed Scholarship
  • The scholarship(s) will be awarded to a sophomore, junior, or senior student(s) majoring in education that has at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA; the recipient(s) will be chosen by the general scholarship committee of the College of Education. The student(s) must show great promise and dedication to the teaching profession.
  • The scholarship recipient(s) must be registered and remain registered as a full-time student for the quarter he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University.
  • Scholarship (s) will be awarded annually, with disbursement quarterly.
  • The scholarship recipient(s) must maintain at least a minimum 3.0 GPA in all official college courses.
  • The scholarship shall be intended to assist the recipient(s) in paying any college education costs that would otherwise be paid to Louisiana Tech University by the student(s).
F. Elizabeth Bethea Endowment
  • The recipient must be majoring in Art Education.
  • The recipient must be a junior or senior in classification.
  • The scholarship shall be given to a student who shows financial need.
  • The recipient’s marital status must be single.
  • The recipient must have a minimum GPA of 2.2.
George Madden Lomax Scholarship
  • The scholarship recipient be a junior in classification.
  • The recipient must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • The recipient must be a student who demonstrates the ability and desire to succeed in their chosen field.
  • Preference given to a qualifying student who may enter the basketball coaching profession.
Gertie M. H. & Eldrice H. Green
  • Scholarship recipient (s) must maintain an overall 2.0 GPA as an average on all official college course work.
  • Scholarship recipient(s) must exhibit financial need.
  • The scholarship will be awarded annually
  • The scholarship recipient(s) must exhibit financial need as demonstrated by family income of average or below average. This information shall be obtained through the University’s Financial Aid Office.
Gladden Butler Graduate Scholarship
  • possess an undergraduate degree from an accredited college
  • active in professional organizations for teachers
  • recommended by teachers and administrators
  • active in community affairs
  • show evidence of effective classroom work
  • demonstrate a need for financial assistance
James and Janis Pierce Endowed Scholarship
  • The scholarship recipient (s) must be registered and remain registered as a full time student for the quarter he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University.
  • Scholarship (s) will be awarded annually with disbursement quarterly.
  • The scholarship shall be intended to assist the recipient in paying any college education costs which would otherwise be paid to Louisiana Tech by the student.
  • The scholarship recipient shall be a junior majoring in education with a minimum 3.0 GPA who demonstrates dedication to teaching and unusual promise in the profession.
  • The scholarship recipient (s) will be selected by the general scholarship committee of the College of Education.
John Cawthon Scholarship
  • enrolled in a teacher education program
  • demonstrate a need for financial assistance
  • minimum high school GPA of 3.0
  • selected in the Spring preceding the effective date
  • demonstrate a commitment to the teaching profession
  • maintain GPA of 2.5 on all work pursued
Knotts Memorial Scholarship
  • Freshman majoring in Physical Education
  • GPA of 2.5 over 3 quarters in one college year
  • American-born citizen of the U.S.
  • show need for assistance as defined by the Financial Aid Office

Lanette Southall Fisher Memorial Scholarship
  • sophomore Education major
  • eligibility continued up to three years
Louise Ewing Memorial Scholarship
  • Must be a full time student.
  • Must be U.S. Citizen.
  • Minimum 2.75 GPA
  • Must submit a letter expressing a desire to teach in Louisiana after graduation.
  • Must submit two (2) letters of recommendation.
  • Scholarship award varies based on number of applicants.
Lu Iman Allen and Ann McCraw Stokes Scholarship in Education
  • Provided in honor of Lu Iman Allen and Ann McCraw Stokes by the Lynn and Louis R. Brill Endowed Scholarship Fund.
  • Must be an Education major.
  • Preference shall be given to students from Bossier Parish.
Lucille Pierce Folk Endowed Scholarship
  • The scholarship recipient (s) must be registered and remain registered as a full time student for the quarter he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University.
  • Scholarship (s) will be awarded annually with disbursement quarterly.
  • The scholarship recipient (s) will be selected by the scholarship committee of the College of Education.
  • The scholarship will be awarded to a junior who maintains a minimum GPA of 3.0 in all official college courses and is perceived to have a love for English and a talent for teaching and making English interesting and fun for their students.
  • The scholarship shall be intended to assist the recipient in paying any college education costs which would otherwise be paid to Louisiana Tech by the student.
Mary Ann Smalling Scholarship (Kalil Scholarship)
  • Library Science major with an overall GPA of 3.0
  • leadership in library activities such as ABA, campus activities, etc.
  • hold junior standing
Mary Ross Higginbotham Scholarship
  • Education major in Library Science, English or Social Studies
  • need for financial assistance
  • hold junior standing
  • admitted to Upper Division
  • GPA of 3.0
Mary Wilson Scholarship
  • Elementary Education major
  • need for financial assistance
  • minimum high school GPA of 3.0
  • commitment to the teaching profession
  • maintain a GPA of 3.0 on all educational work
Miriam Davis Hogan Endowment
  • The scholarship recipient(s) must be registered and remain registered as a full time student for the quarter he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University.
  • The scholarship recipient(s) shall be enrolled in an Education curriculum.
  • The scholarships will be awarded annually.
  • The student(s) must maintain an overall 3.0 GPA as an average on all official college course work.
  • The General Scholarship Committee of the College of Education shall be responsible for the administration of this scholarship.
Pipes Memorial Scholarship
  • Mathematics or Science Education major, Grades 4-8 or 7-12
  • Freshmen applying should have an ACT score of 22 in mathematics or science, depending upon the content major
  • Sophomores applying should have an overall GPA of 3.0 and a 3.5 in the specialty areas of mathematics or science
  • Juniors applying should have an overall GPA of 3.2 and have passed PRAXIS I
  • Scholarship can be awarded to the same person on a yearly basis, but requires competitive application each year
  • Preference will be given to Louisiana applicants who have also passed PRAXIS content for the specialty area
Ruston Sunrise Kiwanis Scholarships
  • enrolled in the College of Education
  • admitted to Upper Division
  • pursuing a program to be certified in Mathematics or Science
  • maintained an overall GPA of 3.0
  • GPA of 3.0 in math or science courses
  • preference will be given to Lincoln Parish graduates
Thomas Gaston and Hessie Gaston Watson Endowed Scholarship
  • The scholarship (s) will be awarded to a sophomore, junior, or senior student(s) majoring in secondary or middle school education, who is specializing in math or science, and who has at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA; the recipient(s) will be chosen by the general scholarship committee of the College of Education. The student(s) must show great promise and dedication to the teaching profession.
  • The scholarship recipient (s) must be registered and remain registered as a full time student for the quarter he/she receives the scholarship at Louisiana Tech University.
  • The scholarship recipient(s) must be a United States citizen.
  • Scholarship (s) will be awarded annually with disbursement quarterly.
  • The scholarship recipient(s) must maintain at least a minimum 3.3 GPA in all official college courses
  • The scholarship shall be intended to assist the recipient in paying any college education costs which would otherwise be paid to Louisiana Tech by the student.
  • Preference in awarding the scholarship shall be given to a student who shows financial need.
Wilbur Bergeron Memorial Scholarship
  • enrolled in the College of Education
  • excellent academic record in high school and/or college
