The purpose of the project
was to provide highly qualified teachers for grades 6-12 by design and
implementation of quality electronic alternative certification programs
for military retirees and rural students seeking a second career.
This project addressed the need nationwide for increasing the numbers
of highly qualified and certified teachers in the nation's schools, with
specific focus on meeting those needs for Louisiana. It also
addressed this need by providing online alternative certification programs
focusing on second-career military, though the program was made available for
other qualified applicants during the project duration and will be refined
and made available to additional cohorts after conclusion of the project.
Another expected outcome of SCIT was that program completers will assist in
increasing the numbers of certified and highly qualified teachers. |
