A Contemporary Painting Exhibition

Chroma is a group exhibition of advanced painting students from the school of art at Louisiana Tech University.  In studying contemporary theory and painting practices these students were encouraged to develop a style and voice that was uniquely their own.

When preparing for this show, students were asked to choose a set of dualities as a departure point for a series of large-scale paintings.  The challenge was to create pieces of art where imagery, value, color, and composition encompass these oppositions. The work explores ideas of trust, betrayal, protection, invasion, chaos, order, creation, destruction, as well as personal identity. Chroma will offer a visually rich and diverse range of work, from abstract to figurative.
