Frellsen Fletcher Smith taught technical writing at Louisiana Tech University from 1938 to 1972, and through the generosity of his daughter Lorna and her husband Jon Kardatzke, Louisiana Tech now has one of the finest collections of literary letters in the South. The Kardatzkes have collected letters, documents, and signed first editions written by a variety of literary greats, including Charles Dickens, William Wordsworth, Carl Sandburg, Mark Twain, and many others. These documents are currently housed on the fourth floor of the Prescott Memorial Library. They are available for viewing and research through special collections.
The author links on the sidebars to the right and left contain more details about individual authors and the documents in our collection. These links will be updated as the documents are examined and cataloged and the research is completed.
