Federal Work Study Program (FWSP) Job Postings

FWS provides jobs for students to help pay for educational costs. To be considered for FWS, a student must:

  • indicate on your FAFSA your interest in FWS (Question 31 on the FAFSA form)
  • have unmet financial need
  • have a cumulative college GPA of 2.0 if an undergraduate, a cumulative college GPA of 3.0 if a graduate, or an ACT composite score of 20 or higher if an entering freshman without a college GPA.

Funds are limited; therefore, students who complete their financial aid files by the published priority deadline will be given first consideration.

Students will be allowed to earn up to a set amount during an award period. The 17-18 maximum amount awarded is $800 per quarter. Students may work an average of 20 hours per week (not to exceed 25 hours per week) with a maximum of 80 hours during any four week pay period or 100 hours for any five week pay period, AND must be enrolled at least half-time to be able to continue to work. Half-time enrollment is defined as 4 hours for undergraduates or 3 hours for graduates. Students who drop below half time enrollment or below the required college GPA will no longer be eligible for student employment and must cease working. Students are paid hourly and will receive at least the current Federal minimum wage ($7.25 as of July 1, 2009). Paychecks are disbursed at least once monthly. Positions are located on campus and through local, contracted, non-profit agencies. A particular emphasis on community service opportunities exists within the FWS program.

Students eligible for this award will be contacted by the Student Employment Coordinator for job placement. Appointments are generally held one month prior to the start of the Fall Quarter.

Institutional/Regular Funds Employment Job Postings

Louisiana Tech University provides through the regular funds accounts, a program of jobs on campus for qualified students who do not have sufficient financial need to qualify for the Federal Work Study Program. The department will pay 100% of the wages earned by the student through the department’s account. Since the program is not federally subsidized, the student employee’s earnings are limited to departmental budgets. Students may work an average of 20 hours per week (not to exceed 25 hours per week) with a maximum of 80 hours during any four week pay period or 100 hours for any five week pay period. Students must be eligible and have all necessary certification forms completed prior to beginning employment.

Student Employment Eligibility Rules:

  • Students must be enrolled at least half-time to be eligible for student employment. Half-time enrollment is defined as 4 hours for undergraduates or 3 hours for graduates. Students who drop below half-time will no longer be eligible for student employment and must cease working.
  • Students must have an overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduates and 3.0 for graduates at the time of and throughout their student employment.
  • Students who drop below half time enrollment or below the required college GPA will no longer be eligible for student employment and must cease working.
  • Student workers will be allowed to hold only one job at a time during an academic year (ex:  FWS, Graduate Assistantship, Regular Funds).
