Note: The following selections were chosen to illustrate various oral verbal and musical traditions predominantly from Region 1 of the Louisiana Regional Folklife Program. Included are excerpts from older tapes that might have been in danger of deterioration, stories and music from tradition bearers who have died since their documentation, as well as selections from artists performing today. The listing below is roughly organized by regions (Delta and North Central Hill Country) and parishes.
