The Southern Quilt Conference

Louisiana Tech University hosted the 2007 Southern Quilt Conference on March 23-24 in Ruston, Louisiana. The conference theme was "Southern Cultures, Southern Quilts."

Dubach Dogtrot Project

The Regional Folklife Program is providing technical assistance to the Dubach Restoration and Beautification Organization in acquiring and restoring a dogtrot house to serve as Dubach's new welcome center.

Louisiana Quilt Documentation Project

The Louisiana Quilt Documentation Project identifies and documents quilt makers and their quilts made in Louisiana from the days of earliest settlement of the state to the present. Collecting information for this online searchable database began in 2001 as a research activity of the Louisiana Regional Folklife Program at Louisiana Tech University and expanded to the University of New Orleans branch of the Regional Folklife Program.

In The Wake of the Hurricanes Research Project

The Louisiana Regional Folklife Program has provided assistance to a coalition of scholars and the public interested in documenting the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. They have begun a landmark cooperative effort to provide a framework for comparing data collected from independently funded projects. The coalition provides basic questions and a form for collecting the same demographic information, allowing comparison of stories and other information gathered by many interviewers.

Highway 151: From Arcadia to Calhoun

The Louisiana Regional Folklife project is assisting with the identification and documentation of the cultural landscape of Highway 151 from Arcadia to Calhoun. The goal is to apply for a Louisiana Byways designation for this stretch of highway.

The Center for Rural Development is a project of Louisiana Tech University.
