How Can a Regional Folklorist Benefit You?

Cultural Tourism and Folklife Programming

• By helping communities developtours on local traditional culture and training tour guides; festivals and concerts; foodways demonstrations, craft demonstrations, and storytelling events; exhibits about local traditions for museums and community centers; and educational programs for use in and out of schools

• By providing research to support the development of high-quality tourist attractions that accurately reflect Louisiana’s folk cultures

• By determining effective and responsible means of presenting cultural tourism research

• By encouraging responsible approaches to cultural tourism, that will not endanger the traditional community

• By encouraging cultural conservation as a means of preserving community heritage and providing authentic resources for cultural tourism

Research: Identification and Documentation
