U.S. Citizens Admission

U.S. Citizens Admission Requirements

Minimum admission standards are established by the Graduate Council and the University of Louisiana System for Louisiana Tech University. Graduate School applicants must satisfy all general admission requirements. Each college has the prerogative to be more selective and to establish higher standards. Admission deadlines may vary by degree program. Each student is responsible for becoming knowledgeable about Graduate School policies and procedures. Specific program requirements are published in the University Catalog.

GRE may be required by the colleges of Applied & Natural Sciences, Education, Engineering & Science, and Liberal Arts.

GMAT is required by the College of Business – (not more than 5 years old).

PRAXIS I and II are required by the College of Education. Each applicant must assume the initiative of determining and meeting the test requirements for a specific degree program.

Official test scores must be on file in the Graduate School in advance of registration for the session in which the student expects to enroll.

Letters of Recommendation

Letters of Recommendation are required by most degree programs and are submitted directly through the online application system by the recommender.  Applicants should contact specific programs for information on submitting the letters of recommendation if there are any questions.  Recommendations should come from individuals familiar with your academic achievement and who can address your potential for success in the academic setting.  You will need to have the Name, Mailing Address, Position, Telephone Number, and Email Address of those who will be submitting a letter of recommendation on your behalf.  Most programs require three letters of recommendation be on file.

The Letters of Recommendation will be attached to your application.  Please notify the Graduate School via gschool@latech.edu if you will be sending hard copies of your Letters of Recommendation so we may waive this requirement in your application.  Scanned and emailed copies of Letters of Recommendation can also be loaded into your application.  These can be emailed to gschool@latech.edu.  Review the website of your program for additional information that may be required to process your application.

If you have already secured Letters of Recommendation and have hard copies, you can mail them to:

U.S. Citizens Preferred Application Dates

Any credentials still missing by the end of the first complete term of enrollment will result in no graduate credit being issued and an official Tech transcript will not be provided to the student. No further enrollment will be permitted.

Failure to provide complete, accurate, and truthful information will be grounds to deny or withdraw your admission, or to dismiss you after enrollment.  The same actions will occur if you fail to notify the Graduate Admissions office promptly in writing of any changes that occur in your information at any time after you submit the application.

Applications for admission to the Graduate School should be submitted as early as possible. Some degree programs have earlier application deadlines and students are responsible for contacting the college for program specific application information.

Admission to Graduate School does not necessarily mean admission into a specific degree program. Official admission notification will be e-mailed to each student by the Graduate School. Applicants should contact the program or College Graduate Studies office to determine eligibility for class enrollment after a Quarter begins.

In addition, some degree programs have specific admission requirements such as interviews or performances that occur at particular points prior to the enrollment Quarter. Therefore, it is important that you contact the program or College if you are applying near the beginning of a Quarter to determine if you have missed any of these important admission requirements.

Although every effort will be made to accommodate late applicants, there is no guarantee that a late applicant will be admitted and/or allowed to enroll for the desired Quarter and it may be necessary to delay entry into a program or miss enrollment in a specific class.

Please note that any credentials still missing by the end of the first complete term of enrollment will result in no graduate credit being issued, and an official Tech transcript will not be provided to the student. No further graduate enrollment will be permitted. Failure to provide complete, accurate, and truthful information will be grounds to deny or withdraw your admission, or to dismiss you after enrollment. The same actions will occur if you fail to notify the Graduate Admissions office promptly in writing of any changes that occur in your information at any time after you submit the application.
