Housing and Meals
Although Louisiana Tech University does not guarantee availability of housing space, there is almost never any problem for students in getting a room in a residence hall. Unmarried students less than 23 years of age with less than 90 hours of university work are required to live in university residence halls as long as rooms are available. These residency halls have professional and student staff and offer a variety of services to the residents. There are intramural sports for women and men, study skills sessions and tutorial assistance, movies and educational programs. University housing is also available for married students.

Students are strongly encouraged to make application for admission early to secure University housing. In order to be processed, applications for housing must be complete with all necessary information included since incomplete applications cannot be processed. Students need to provide their own pillows, blankets, sheets, and towels.

All students living on campus are required every quarter to purchase a meal ticket which can be used in the University Student Center and cafeteria.

ESL students are strongly encouraged to participate in the "Reaching Across Cultures" program. Students in this program are assigned an American roomate and participate in a series of cross-cultural activities provided jointly by the Housing Office, the International Student Office and the Department of Foreign Languages.

Off-campus housing is available but students are responsible for making their own arrangements. Those who qualify to live off campus and wish to do so should plan to arrive early in order to secure their own accommodations. International students usually make better progress in English when they live in a university residence hall, especially when they have an English-speaking roommate.
