General Information and Fees
Louisiana Tech University is a fully accredited major institution of higher education. Associate, baccalaureate, master's, and the doctorate degrees are offered through the following colleges: Business, Liberal Arts, Education, Engineering & Sciences, Applied & Natural Sciences. An applicant to Louisiana Tech University should have a minimum of 2.5 overall grade point average on a 4.0 scale. THE GRADE POINT AVERAGE APPLIES TO ALL APPLICANTS ENTERING OR RE-ENTERING THE UNIVERSITY. Each academic college has the prerogative to be more restrictive and to establish higher admission standards. Applicants are encouraged to check college requirements.
An application fee of $40.00 must accompany the application for admission. There are no exceptions. Official transcripts must be submitted from each college or university attended. Documents submitted for admission become the property of Louisiana Tech University. Neither the documents(s) nor copies of the documents(s) will be made available for future use other than the purpose for which they were collected.
English Language Proficiency
The student's proficiency in the English language is essential to his/her successful performance in the university. A student seeking regular admission must submit a score of at least 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based), or 80 (internet-based) for graduates on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). This score must be sent from the Educational Testing Center (ETS) and cannot be more than two years old. TOEFL scores older than two years are not accepted. International students do have the option to attend the ELS Language Center located on the Louisiana Tech campus in Ruston, Louisiana, and by enrolling in and successfully completing ELS Level 112 intensive course can meet the English language proficiency requirement.
Test Scores
The appropriate standardized test score is required prior to an admissions decision. For graduate students, the Graduate Record Examination General (GRE) is required by the Colleges of Engineering & Science, Education, Applied & Natural Sciences, and Liberal Arts. A score on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is required by the College of Business. GRE test scores for admission to Engineering & Science and Education, and GMAT test scores for admission to Business must be submitted before an application can be evaluated. Financial Arrangements
As a state supported university, Louisiana Tech has no funds available for scholarships or other financial assistance for students from other countries. Fees, tuition, books, health insurance, and living expenses will be approximately $16,370 yearly. To furnish evidence of financial support, a current financial statement signed by an official of the U.S. Embassy in your country or a bank official must be submitted. The I-134 form is not sufficient alone. Graduate assistantships are available in some disciplines for a limited number of candidates for advanced degrees.
