Honors Transfer Credit

Occasionally students who have been enrolled in an Honors Program at another university transfer to Louisiana Tech, and we welcome transfer students to apply to our program. In those cases, students may seek to apply Honors hours earned elsewhere towards an Honors distinction here. The following baseline conditions must apply before the hours will be considered:

  • The student must have earned a grade of B or better in these classes
  • The transferring program must require at least an ACT score of 27 for admission to that program
  • The student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better

If these conditions have been met, the Director of Honors will consider applying transfer credit on a case-by-case basis. However, a minimum of 15 Honors hours must be earned at Louisiana Tech in order to complete the Honors Program.

Under no circumstances may dual enrollment classes, or any classes taken while the student was still in high school, be applied for credit towards completing Louisiana Tech's Honors Program. While the student's major department may count those classes for course credit, they will not be allowed as Honors credit.
