The Institute for Micromanufacturing (IfM) is a state-of-the-art high technology research and development facility at Louisiana Tech University. As an applied research institute, the IfM contributes to the economic development of Louisiana and the nation through the invention and realization of specific types of micro and nanosystems, which may be commercialized through technology transfer and start-up businesses.

A wide range of research projects are carried out at the Institute for Micromanufacturing.  Examples of current research and development efforts include:

  • Micro/Nanosensor Technology Platform for Biological, Chemical, and Physical Sensing
  • Micro/Nanoshells Technology Platform for Artificial Cells, Drug Delivery, and Other Applications
  • Mirco/Nanoreactor Technology Platform for Chemical and Environmental Applications
  •  Polymer Microelectronic Technology Platform for IT and Other Applications
  • Wireless Micro/Nanosensor Network for Physical, Chemical, and Environmental Monitoring Applications
