TEACHERS OF PHYSICS OR PHYSICAL SCIENCE Middle – High School Teachers The RIPPLE Plus Project: Research and Inquiry-based Physics Project with LIGO and the Exploratorium June 23-27, 2008 and June 30-July 3, 2008 (Orientation June 22nd 2-5)

• 2 week summer course hosted on the Louisiana Tech campus
• 2 day Fall workshop @ Louisiana Tech campus
• 2 day LIGO workshop @ LIGO Science Education Center in Livingston, LA
• 2 day Spring workshop @ Louisiana Tech campus
• Participation in LIGO Share-a-thon @ LSTA
• Classroom Collegial Coaching by the RIPPLE Coordinator
• Assemble a “RIPPLE Review” notebook containing samples of student work
• Pre/post Student Attitude Surveys
• Three constructed response items administered to students

What Participants Will Receive

• $20/hr stipend (up to total of $2,040)
• Up to $400 for travel allowance
• Lodging paid by grant in nearby motel
• 3 hours graduate credit in science or 45 CLUs for the summer (suggested)
• EXPLORATORIUM “Snacks” or models
• Professional networking and team building
