What is Louisiana Tech's visual identity?
Louisiana Tech's graphic identity guidelines offer a foundation for clear, concise communication of the university's
institutional identity. This information describes the Tech marks and the guidelines for usage, including official
colors and typefaces. Repeated and consistent use of the marks is critical to establishing and maintaining Tech's
identity with our many constituents. While not every issue associated with a consistent application of Tech's visual
identity can be addressed, a few simple guidelines convey the spirit of these standards.
- Use the wordmark and/or the T-and-state logo as the primary visual means of communicating the university whenever possible.
- Do not use the wordmark and T-and-state logo in direct conjunction with the logo or identifying symbol of another organization. (Note: A number of Tech's departments have unique marks. The T-and-state logo can help enhance Tech's identity and correlation to a department when marks complement each other.)
- Do not modify, embellish or obscure the wordmark or T-and-state logo in any way.
- Those colleges, schools and centers with strong and consistent visual identities already in place are highly encouraged to incorporate the T-and-state logo within their existing publications style guidelines.

What is a wordmark?
The wordmark, in a modified typeface, immediately communicates to any audience, anywhere, that we are
Louisiana Tech University in a way that cannot be equaled by other complex or abstract designs.

What are Louisiana Tech's graphic standards?
The Louisiana Tech visual identity consists of two major components: the actual graphic devices - T-and-state logo and
wordmar - and the standards that govern use of the graphic elements. The T-and-state logo and wordmark may be used
together or separately as illustrated. The choice of which format to use in a design varies according to its application.

What are the minimum sizes for Tech's logos?
Minimum sizes have been established to ensure that the symbols can be adequately reproduced. The minimum width of the
wordmark by itself is 1¼ inches. The minimum diameter of the T-and-state depends on the medium and its usage.
The minimum width of the wordmark with the T-and-state is 2 ½” (with the exception of business cards).

When is the Louisiana Tech seal used?
Note that the T-and-state is the preferred logo for public identity. The University's presidential seal (identified below in a foil stamp) should be reserved for executive materials. Please note that the university seal and the T-and-state logo are not used together.

Can the T-and-state logo be used in a one-color version?
The T-and-state logo, used alone or with the wordmark is the primary, trademarked graphic standard for
Louisiana Tech University. When used in its two-color version, the state must be blue and the "T"; red, not the
reverse. The T-and-state logo and wordmark, used separately or together, may be reversed when graphic circumstances
dictate this use. A protected area of white space, as illustrated, is necessary around the T-and-state and/or wordmark
to obtain the symbols' integrity and visual impact.

What are Louisiana Tech's official Pantone colors?
"T" is red: PMS 185.
State is blue: Reflex Blue.

What is a Pantone color?

How can I get the official logos?
Tech's visual identity components can be easily
downloaded.
By utilizing these marks, you can easily project the university's visual identity in a uniform way every time. Please
do not use second-generation versions of the logos and wordmark, such as photocopier reproductions or icons pulled
from Tech's web site. Contact the Marketing Team if you cannot find the logo you need.

What are the guidelines for Tech letterhead, envelopes and business cards?
Letterhead:
University stationery sends a powerful visual message about the writer and the institution. A consistent visual image
provided by the T-and-state logo is needed to project institutional unity. An example of stationery using the wordmark
and logo is shown below. The Marketing Team will assist you in preparing stationery. The stationery may be printed in
black or blue ink (one color) for an inexpensive product. The standard, acceptable two-color product is shown here.
Envelopes:
University envelopes in various sizes are printed with the wordmark in a one- or two-color standard. (A one-color
envelope is set in blue or black). Other information in the envelope return address should be pattered after the
companion stationery.
Business Cards:
Business cards often introduce Tech to people who are not familiar with us. It is important that this visual contact
convey an identity that can be reinforced in subsequent contacts through consistent use. On Tech business cards,
the T-and-state logo and wordmark must be used as a unit. Business cards can be set horizontally or vertically.
