Dr. Thompson has performed as vocal soloist with several choirs and orchestras including the Alabama Festival Chorus and Orchestra, the Memphis Oratorio Society, and the Paducah Symphony and Chorus. She has conducted or prepared groups for performance with the Ruston Symphony, the Monroe Masterworks Chorus and Orchestra, the Monroe Symphony, and the Northcentral Masterworks Chorus and Orchestra (Louisiana).
As former Director of Choral Activities at Louisiana Tech, she has prepared the Tech Choirs to perform with the International Mozart Festival in Austria and the International Choral Festival in Lucerne, Switzerland. She has served as Treasurer for the North Louisiana Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, has held the position of President and has served on the Regional Board of Governors for NATS (Southern Region). Thompson serves often as adjudicator for vocal and choral competitions in the region; she has served as clinician for elementary, junior high, and high school honors choirs in Louisiana. Dr. Thompson has also presented sessions for Louisiana Music Educators Association. She has served as Musical Director for opera and musical theatre productions including The Old Maid and the Thief, Gallantry, The Merry Widow, Cole Porter Review, Little Shop of Horrors, and others.
As a scholar in Interdisciplinary Baroque Studies, Dr. Thompson has presented lectures/recitals locally, nationally, and internationally. She has presented for the National Association of Gifted Children and National Social Sciences Association, among others. Most recently Dr. Thompson has coauthored an online courseware in Interdisciplinary Baroque Studies. Dr. Thompson received Orff Certification at the Eastman School of Music and has assumed duties in Vocal Music Education.
