Louisiana Tech University is required to help administer a return of GI Bill Funding for all students who use a GI Bill to pay for coursework and receive an F within the GI Bill funded course. The policy that follows complies with the federal requirements.
GI Bill funds are awarded to a student under the assumption that the student will attend school for the entire period for which the assistance is awarded. When a student withdraws or receives an F grade without attending the course long enough to earn the F grade, the student may no longer be eligible to receive all or part of their GI Bill.
Students who receive an F grade in GI Bill funded courses, will have their last date/dates of attendance reviewed at the end of the enrollment period in which the F grade was received. The enrollment period is computed from the "classes begin" date to the "last day of classes" date. Last dates of attendance will be provided per Louisiana Tech University Policy 2206 - Class Attendance. In order to be considered as earning 100% of the GI Bill when receiving an F grade, the student must attend past the 60% date of the enrollment period.
Students who fail to attend past the 60% date during the enrollment period, will have their last dates of attendance reported to the Veteran Affairs Agency.
