Article "The Romance of 'In the Gloaming,'" by Myrtle T. Wilkins from Etude, 1936, on the Union Parish legend having to do with the writing of the song "In the Gloaming." Legend concerns a teacher and her daughter, Anna Portesque Harrison, who was reputed to have written the song.

Article, "Hopkins House", from Forest and People, 1959, concerning the old home in Marion, Louisiana, where "In the Gloaming" was reportedly written. Discredits the legend, pointing up the confusion in names of Anna Portesque Harrison with Ann Fortusque Harrison, the real author of the song.
