What is Greek Life?
Greek Life at Louisiana Tech University is composed of twenty-one nationally recognized Greek organizations. At Louisiana Tech University, we strive to promote Greek unity and the overall well-being of our Greek system. The Greek Life office, located in Tolliver Hall, is responsible for all Greek matters including planning various Greek sponsored events for the university.
What does Panhellenic, Interfraternity Council, and National Pan-hellenic Council mean?
Panhellenic is the governing body of Louisiana Tech's four female sororities: Alpha Chi Omega, Kappa Delta, Phi Mu, and Sigma Kappa.
Interfraternity Council is the governing body of Louisiana Tech's ten male fraternities: Acacia, Alpha Gamma Rho, Alpha Tau Omega, Delta Chi, Kappa Alpha Order, Kappa Sigma, Pi Kappa Alpha, Pi Kappa Phi, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, and Sigma Nu,
National Pan-Hellenic Council, also known as "the Pan," is the governing body of Louisiana Tech's six multicultural sororities and fraternities: Alpha Kappa Alpha, Alpha Phi Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Kappa Alpha Psi, Omega Psi Phi, and Zeta Phi Beta.
When is recuitment?
National Panhellenic Council (NPC), National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), and Interfraternity Council (IFC) each have their own recruitment schedules. NPC recruitment takes place approximately 1-2 weeks prior to the beginning of fall quarter, IFC hosts their recruitment approximately two weeks after the beginning of fall quarter, and NPHC hosts an intake process that is unique to each chapter of the NPHC.

If I go through recruitment am I guaranteed a bid to join a fraternity or sorority?
Fraternity and sorority recruitment is a mutual selection process. We try our hardest to match you with the sorority or fraternity of your choice; however, there are situations in which a student may not receive a bid.
What about hazing?
Louisiana Tech University has a strict no hazing policy. Hazing of any nature is against the Louisiana Tech University student handbook's code of conduct. Any student or chapter who hazes will face harsh punishments and possible suspension from the university. Please see the student handbook for more information.
What are the benefits of joining a sorority or fraternity?
By joining a sorority or fraternity, a student is able to gain a lifetime membership in a Greek lettered organization and the opportunity to build lasting friendships. In becoming Greek, students are encouraged to succeed individually, socially, and academically.
If I pledge a sorority or fraternity, can I also get involved in other areas on campus?
Yes! Greek students are encouraged to become involved as much as possible on campus. In fact, many students say that become aware of other campus organizations through other Greeks.
How much time does a sorority or fraternity take up?
The time constraint varies for each organization. Greek organizations have designated dates and times for chapter meetings. Aside from meetings, members can participate as they wish in socials, intramurals, philanthropies, etc. However, certain mandatory activities should be expected.
Who is in charge of the Greek organizations on campus?
Each Greek organization has a designated board or council of officers. Aside from chapter officers, organizations are governed by NPC, IFC, or NPHC.
