Renewal Application for Returning Students

Renewal Application Schedule (for returning students only)
March 1 (1pm) - March 10 (10am) Current residents may complete a renewal application and begin searching for roommates.  *Renewal apps are considered complete once a student pays the $100 app fee.
March 13 (1pm) - March 14 (10am) Current apartment residents who completed a renewal application can reserve an apartment (different or same based on availability).
March 14 (1pm) - March 15 (10am) Current apartment residents who reserved an apartment on Monday may pull in unassigned roommates into available spaces in their apartment.
March 20 (1pm) - March 31 (10am) Current residence hall and apartment residents who completed a renewal application can reserve any available space on campus.  All available space is visible on the housing portal.

Any returning student who submitted a renewal application for housing but failed to select their room by March 31st at 10am will be assigned by our Residential Life staff.  It is the student's responsibility to cancel any housing accommodations made according to cancellation deadlines.  However, the renewal application fee of $100 is not refundable.  All residents planning to reside on campus for Summer and/or Fall 2017 must complete a renewal application March 1, 2017 at 1pm - March 10, 2017 at 10am, regardless of scholarship or financial aid.  If you miss this time slot or decide at a later date to live on campus, you will need to reapply for housing beginning June 1, 2017.  Anyone who applies June 1st or after will be assigned by the Residential Life staff as space permits.

Will I be able to reserve my current housing location?

Please keep in mind that you are reserving a space for the upcoming year, not necessarily the same room/apartment in which you currently reside.  Each year the Department of Residential Life has to rotate the buildings we use for summer, in addition to the buildings in which we complete maintenance.  We also have dedicated space for our incoming students.  Your current room/apartment may not be available for next year.  Each lease you sign is on a year by year basis.  We cannot guarantee the same room/apartment for more than the leased time period.

Residence Hall options for summer - Adams and Dudley only (You will need to fill out a separate application for these locations.)  You may live in Adams or Dudley for the summer and move to a different location for the Academic Year (9-month lease) based on your room selection for those dates.

 

Lease Agreements

All students living on campus in either a residence hall or apartment must sign a lease agreement.  In the apartments you have a choice of a 9-month (Fall 2017 quarter - Spring 2018 quarter) or a 12-month lease (Summer 2017 quarter - Spring 2018 quarter).  Students choosing a 12-month lease must be registered for Fall 2017 and are not required to take courses during the summer quarter.  In the residence halls you will sign a 9-month lease.  If you would like to live in the residence halls for the summer, you will need to complete a separate Summer 2017 application and are required to enroll in at least one summer course.  9-Month lease agreements cannot be canceled or adjusted after July 15, 2017.  12-Month lease agreements cannot be canceled or adjusted after 5pm on May 19, 2017.

 

Roommates

To be able to live with the roommate(s) of your choice, all preferred roommates MUST complete the renewal application before March 10th at 10am.  Once a resident pays the app fee, he/she will be able to begin searching for potential roommates.  Utilizing the portal, you can request that a resident be your roommate, message the potential roommate, confirm or deny roommate requests, and search for those individuals who may match best with you according to the roommate survey.  Please note that in order to assign yourself with a particular roommate, he/she must accept your roommate request prior to the time of room selection.  

Description of Renewal Application Schedule

Current residents may complete a renewal application and begin searching for roommates. (March 1st at 1pm - March 10th at 10am)

Only students who currently reside on campus qualifies to complete a renewal application.  In completing the application, the resident will decide whether to complete a 9 month, 12 month lease or Summer app in addition to a 9 month lease (if choosing to live in a residence hall for the summer).  Housing options are dependent upon which lease a student chooses.  Preferred roommates must choose the same lease option to be able to reside together.  The application process takes the resident through steps in which he/she will verify personal information on file, complete a roommate survey, pay the renewal application fee of $100, and begin searching for roommates.  The application is only considered complete once the payment has been made.  Residents can search for potential roommates by according to survey question preference, by web profile, etc.  A potential roommate must accept the roommate request before a resident can assign him/her to live with them.  This time period gives students a chance to complete the application and to confirm roommates.

Current apartment residents who completed a renewal application can reserve an apartment (different or same based on availability) (March 13th at 1pm - March 14th at 10am)

Students who completed a renewal application during the time period of March 1st at 1pm and March 10th at 10am and currently live in an on campus apartment can log back into the online housing portal and select an available apartment space for themselves only.  If his/her current apartment is available, he/she can assign themselves into one of the spaces.  If not, he/she may choose another apartment space to assign themselves into.  If he/she does not want to live in the same apartment in which he/she currently resides, he/she does not have to reserve in the same apartment but must choose from the spaces visible on the portal.  Assignment is on a first come, first served basis.  

Current apartment residents who reserved an apartment on Monday may pull in unassigned roommates into available spaces in their apartment (March 14th at 1pm - March 15th at 10am)

Students who reserved an apartment space for themselves and who currently reside in an on campus apartment may assign their accepted roommates into any available space in the apartment which they selected.  Please note that space may not be available for your accepted roommate at this time.  You may contact our office to see if other space is available for you to move with your accepted roommate but you are unable to be assigned into two locations at the same time in the portal.  Also, all roommate requests must be accepted prior to this time to qualify.  Please remember that your accepted roommate must also have applied for the same lease as you - either a 12 month or 9 month to be able to reside together.  (For example, if you need a 12 month lease but your accepted roommate only wants to sign a 9 month lease, you will not be able to reside together as locations differ for each lease option.)

Current residence hall and apartment residents who completed a renewal application can reserve any available space on campus.  All available space is visible on the housing portal. (March 20th at 1pm - March 31st at 10am)

Any student who currently resides on campus and who complete a renewal application during the time period of March 1st at 1pm - March 10th at 10am may log in to the online housing portal to select any space available on campus.  A current residence hall student may be able to reserve their space in a residence hall or in an apartment, if space is available.  All open spaces are visible on the housing portal at this time and is open to only returning students.  If a resident fails to select a room on his/her own utilizing the portal by March 31st at 10am, the Residential Life staff will make that assignment on their behalf and notify him/her of that assignment.  It is the student's responsibility to cancel any housing accommodations according to the cancellation schedule.
