Student Enrollment:
The seminar will be capped at 15 students. Honors students will
be given first consideration. If seats are still available, students with
a 3.0 or better may enroll in the class.
Criteria:
Professors (tenured or tenure-track) from any college may teach upper-level
seminars in the Honors Program. Seminars are not restricted to Honors
Faculty members, though their proposals may be given priority consideration.
The seminar should either fulfill curriculum options in specified
majors (e.g. in Multi-Culturalism, Computer Literacy, or Literature in
Translation) or be attractive as an elective. The criteria for acceptance
are the following:
1) The seminar's likelihood to generate student interest and draw Honors students from several different disciplines.
2) The seminar's interdisciplinary subject matter and especially the inclusion of material not offered by existing curricula.
3) The seminar's inclusion of fieldwork or projects that may generate Honors theses.
4) Qualifications and suitability of the professor for the seminar.
The Honors Program will offer up to 3 upper-level seminars in one academic calendar year (excluding Summer quarter). Any proposal that is not accepted may be resubmitted during the next calendar year.
The Honors Council will make recommendations to the Director on all seminars. The Vice-President of Academic Affairs makes final decisions.
