  What is "wellness"?

"Wellness, in the sense here used, signifies something quiet different from good health.  Good health can exist as a relatively passive state of freedom from illness in which the individual is at peace with his environment.  High-level wellness for the individual is defined as an integrated method of functioning which is oriented toward maximizing the potential of which the individual is capable within the environment where he is functioning." - Dunn, H. (1977).  Health Values, 1:9-16.
