| State of the art systems in horizontal
directional drilling do not have support for incoorporating Geographical
Information Systems (GIS) capabilities. GIS has expanded in scope over the
years in leaps and bounds. ESRI is the leading GIS software provider. We
plan to utilize the features provided by the software for customization purposes.
The ArcView 8.1 provided by ESRI has built in support for Visual Basic for
Applications (VBA). Through the scripting support provided by VBA we intend
to create a graphical system that can use various ArcView features and capabilities
and display the horizontal directional drilling process with greater accuracy
and in real time in reference to the geographical conditions of the area
used for the process. |
